Window Trim - Inside & Out
If you've spent a good chunk of change to get the perfect windows, it makes sense to spend a bit more to 'dress' them up with nice trim. It's not only about the aesthetics, trim also has a functional role in the window structure. Using the right trim includes both the interior and exterior portions of the window.
There are three considerations when choosing your exterior trim options: color, design, and style. For color, the traditional approach would be for the window trim, soffits, and front door trim match in color. For the more adventurous, you can make some bold choices - unless your HOA or historical designation doesn't allow it. Design can encompass many elements of the window - size, fit within the the wall, proportion to other elements, shutters, type of glass, and other architectural considerations. The style or type of the trim consists mainly of material type (usually wood or vinyl but could also be more contemporary choices such as metal and others that are "out of the box".
Interior trim considerations usually match more closely with the interior décor. If the doors and baseboard trim are stained wood, then windows usually have matching stained trim. If it's all painted white, that would be a traditional look that many embrace. There are always examples of designers and homeowners who push the envelope on design and choose edgier styles. We are happy to help with whatever design you come up.
